Manager of Project Management

Location: Minnetonka, MN

 

The Manager of Project Management is an integral part of the RMI team, focused on achieving excellent quality, consistency, and oversight of projects across the company by managing the work of the project management team.   The Manager of Project Manager defines objectives, organizes information, materials, and systems, manages people and processes and ensures that project / department goals are met and adhering to approved budgets.  The Manager of PM will be managing, but also in the trenches. 

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • 60% daily project management responsibilities and 40% management responsibilities
  • Manage and hold the Project Management team accountable to complete assigned projects on time, to specifications, and with accuracy and efficiency
  • Define objectives, outline tasks involved in the project and delegates accordingly 
  • Manage risk, issues, and the change resolution process and work with other leaders to take corrective action as needed 
  • Assist the Director of Project Management with team resourcing
  • Conduct interviews with potential project management candidates 
  • Provide leadership with the information needed to assess which proposals have the highest potential value, impact, and strategic alignment
  • Interface with all RMI departments and with Clients to define project priorities and implementation opportunities and challenges and keep them up to date with project risks and opportunities
  • Understand clear, measurable goals and objectives for client projects as well as action plans for implementing strategies to measure the effectiveness of the Project Management Teams work
  • Communicate and collaborate with Sales and Marketing teams to provide training and information required to promote and sell new projects, programs, and systems
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, local, industry, contractual, and company regulations, standards, specifications, and best practices
  • Perform other related duties as assigned 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Oversees a team of project managers to ensure projects are completed on time and to specifications
  • Delegates work and assignments to team members based on expertise, work experience, and time constraints 
  • Provide work direction to direct and indirect reports 

Required Skills/Abilities: 

  • Extensive knowledge of department processes
  • 1-3 years of supervisory experience required
  • Expert-level knowledge of project and change management and associated methodologies, techniques, processes, and approaches (e.g. Project and Portfolio Management Methodology – PPM)
  • A minimum of three years of experience managing budgets and profitability for complex projects
  • Knowledge of resource management tools
  • Referenceable senior-level project leadership experience
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and Google SuiteExcellent verbal and written communication skills 
  • Extensive knowledge of department processes
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Facilitation, Negotiation & Problem Resolution Skills: Ability to build a strong network and relationships at executive levels with technology and solutions, customers, and vendor groups

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field and a minimum of five years of related experience or equivalent combination of experience and education required
  • PMP, PgMP, CAPM and/or comparable project management certifications highly desirable
